UPGRADE 12.2.0 to 12.2.3

Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Readme (Doc ID 1586214.1)

Created by : – Krome Technology LLP

Dated :-14th Aug’14

Section 1: Preparation

For information about known issues associated with specific products in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 and possible workarounds for those issues, please reference the Known Issues section of your specific product Release Note documents.
In Release 12.2.0 and higher, patching is performed by running the new adop (AD Online Patching) utility. You must use adop instead of the adpatch utility that was provided in previous releases. Download and unzip all the patches to the default Patch Top location for R12.2 ($APPL_TOP_NE/../patch). For more information about the adop utility, refer to Oracle E-Business Suite Concepts (Part No. E22949) and Oracle E-Business Suite Maintenance Guide, Release 12.2 (Part No. E22954).

Section 2: Required Database Patches

If you used startCD 12.2.0.48 for a new Release 12.2 installation that included Oracle Database 11.2.0.3, you will not need to re-apply the patches listed in ‘12.2.0.48’, ‘12.2.0.47’ or ‘12.2.0.46’ rows of Table 1. This is because startCDs are cumulative, with successive ones including all the content of their predecessors. You will, however, need to apply the patches listed under ‘Not included in any startCD’ rows in the tables for the different technology components.

Section 2.1: Database 11.2.0.3 Patches and Bug Numbers

Table 1 – Patches and bug numbers for Database 11.2.0.3.0 (UNIX/Linux Platforms)
When using this table to identify patches to apply, if more than one patch lists a particular database bug fix then you should install the most recent patch listed in the table.
Acronyms used: N/A = Not applicable.

Section 3: Application Tier Technology Patches and Bug Numbers

Depending on the startCD version used for the installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, not all the patches listed may need to be applied.
Two examples will help illustrate the principles involved:
• If you used startCD 12.2.0.46 for the installation, you would not need to re-apply the patches listed in the 12.2.0.46 section of the table. You would, however, need to apply the patches listed under 12.2.0.48, 12.2.0.47 as well as those listed under ‘Not included in any startCD’ for each of the technology components.
• If you used startCD 12.2.0.47 for the installation, you would not need to re-apply the patches listed in either the 12.2.0.47 or 12.2.0.46 sections of the table. This is because the content of startCDs is cumulative, with successive ones including all the content of their predecessors. You would, however, still need to apply the patches listed under 12.2.0.48 and ‘Not included in any startCD’ for each of the technology components.
• If you used startCD 12.2.0.48 for the installation, you would not need to re-apply the patches listed in 12.2.0.48, 12.2.0.47 or 12.2.0.46 sections of the table. This is because the content of startCDs is cumulative, with successive ones including all the content of their predecessors. You would, however, still need to apply the patches listed under ‘Not included in any startCD’ for each of the technology components.
Technology Inventory Utility
The Technology Inventory Utility generates a report that lists the installed technology stack components, as well as patches that have been applied. Any patches listed in Section 3 that are not shown in the generated report must be installed. Refer to Oracle E-Business Suite Maintenance Guide for instructions on generating the technology report.

Section 3.1: Forms and Reports 10.1.2.3 Patches and Bug Numbers

Tables 2 and 3 in this section list the patches and bug numbers for Versions 10.1.2.3.0 and 10.1.0.5.0 respectively.
Note: When obtaining patches listed in these tables, select release 10.1.0.5.0 for patch download and install into the 10.1.2 ORACLE_HOME. Download and Install the 32-bit version of the 10.1.0.5.0 patches, even if the target operating system is 64-bit. The 10.1.2.3 distribution is 32-bit, even on 64-bit platforms.
Table 2 – Patches and bug numbers for Version 10.1.2.3
Any configuration file changes suggested in post-install steps can be skipped, as those changes are controlled through technology stack templates initialized by AutoConfig. Any recommendation in any Forms patch readme to redeploy Forms ear file can be skipped as it is automatically deployed by Oracle E-Business Suite service control scripts before starting services.

Section 4: Apply Consolidated Seed Table Upgrade Patch (Required)

Note:- Copy all the patches to the Patch Directory (/u01/oracle/DEV/fs_ne/EBSapps/patch/)
Note: This step is applicable only for new installation customers and customers upgrading from E-Business Suite Release 12.2.2 to Release 12.2.3.
If you haven’t already applied Consolidated Seed Table Upgrade Patch 17204589:12.2.0, then you must first apply Patch 17204589:12.2.0 on the run file system following the below instructions before proceeding with the next steps.
Note: If you have upgraded to Release 12.2.0 using Consolidated Upgrade Patch 17197281:12.2.0 (CUP4), then you can skip this step.
1. Stop all Application tier services on the run file system.
UNIX:
sh $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adstpall.sh — Stopped – 8:45 am –8:47am
2. Start up only the WeblogicAdminServer service on the run file system.

Note: Review My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1617461.1, Applying the Latest AD and TXK Release Update Packs to Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2, and follow the instructions to apply the required codelevel of AD and TXK for your system.

1. Source the run edition environment file.
UNIX:
$ . <EBS_ROOT>/EBSapps.env run
2. Apply the latest Application Tier Technology patches on the run file system.
Upgrade and New Installation Customers following Path A of this document must apply application tier technology patches to the run file system. Refer to My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1355068.1, Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2 Patching Technology Components Guide for instructions on how to apply technology patches. Path A involves hot patching where patches are applied directly to the run file system, therefore, in this particular case, all middle tier technology patches must be applied to the run file system. Unless indicated in this document, you should not apply application tier technology patches on the patch file system and should not invoke any adop actions (for example, finalize, cutover, cleanup, fs_clone). These adop actions should be executed in later steps as mentioned in this document.
Apply the latest application tier technology patches documented in ‘Section 3: Application Tier Technology Patches and Bug Numbers’ of My Oracle Support Knowledge Document 1594274.1, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2: Consolidated List of Patches and Technology Bug Fixes.

5.1 Path A – Upgrade and New Installation Customers upgrading to Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.3 Release Update Pack

1. Source the run edition applications environment.
UNIX:
$ . <INSTALL_BASE>/EBSapps.env run
Windows:
C:\><INSTALL_BASE>\EBSapps.cmd run
2. Stop WeblogicAdminServer and Node Manager services.
Applying the patch in downtime mode requires all application tier services to be down. Therefore, WeblogicAdminServer and Node Manager that were started previously when applying the latest Release Update Packs for AD and TXK for Release 12.2 need to be shut down.
a. Stop WeblogicAdminServer service on the run file system.
UNIX:
$ sh $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adadminsrvctl.sh stop – Stopped
b. Stop Node Manager service on the run file system.
UNIX:
$ sh $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adnodemgrctl.sh stop – Stopped
3. Apply Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.3 Release Update Pack Patch 17020683 on the run edition application environment, using downtime mode.
UNIX:
$ adop phase=apply apply_mode=downtime patches=17020683 – Applied – 2:07Pm – 6:28 Pm

4. Start all application tier services on the run file system.
UNIX:
$ sh $ADMIN_SCRIPTS_HOME/adstrtal.sh – Started
7. Perform adop cleanup action.
UNIX:
$ adop phase=cleanup – Done
10. Synchronize file systems
Synchronize the file systems using the command shown below. This action copies the new run edition code and configuration to the other file system, ensuring that both file systems are in sync before applying patches using the regular adop cycle on the other file system.
$ adop phase=fs_clone

Section 6: Post-Update Steps

1. Apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Online Help
Apply Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Online Help Patch 17020685 with adophotpatch=yes on the run file system.
$ adop phase=apply patches=17020685 hotpatch=yes — Applied – 8:03 Pm – 8:20 Pm

2. LD_LIBRARY_PATH Environment Variable
Dynamic libraries are used as part of the relinking and execution processes. The LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable is used by Oracle E-Business Suite to locate the required dynamic libraries at runtime – this variable is set by the Rapid Install wizard during the installation of EBS as well as by the Rapid Clone script (adcfgclone) when configuring the target system.
If you need to change these values, use the Edit Parameters function of the OAM AutoConfig tool (by logging in as ‘System Administrator’ responsibility, clicking on ‘System Administrator’, selecting ‘AutoConfig’ under ‘Oracle Applications Manager’, and clicking on the ‘Environments’ tab):
On each application tier server node:
• LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in three places:$APPL_TOP/admin/adovars.env
• $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.2/[CONTEXT_NAME].env, in the 10.1.2 Oracle home directory
• In the AutoConfig interface, this corresponds to:
Location Parameter
adovars LD_LIBRARY_PATH
tools_home (10.1.2) LD_LIBRARY_PATH
• On the database server node:
• LD_LIBRARY_PATH is set in $ORACLE_HOME/[CONTEXT_NAME].env which corresponds in the AutoConfig interface to:
Location Parameter
db_home LD_LIBRARY_PATH
• After making these changes, run AutoConfig (adautocfg.sh) to implement the changes on the application and database tiers.
— JUST RAN AUTOCONFIG (on DB Tier and Apps Tier) —

3. Grant flexfield value set access to specific users (required)
Release 12.2 includes a new security feature, flexfield value set security; it controls who can create or modify flexfield values in the Flexfield Values Setup window (FNDFFMSV). Flexfield value set security requires some mandatory setup steps before any users can create or update values in the Values window. You must perform this step if you have not already done so for a previous version of Release 12.2.
Note: See the ‘Flexfield Value Set Security’ chapter in Oracle® E-Business Suite Flexfields Guide, Release 12.2 (Part No. E22963).
4. Perform Product-Specific Steps (conditional)
After you have completed the steps to update all database tier nodes with the latest code level, perform the following post-update steps only if you have licensed this product:
o HR Legislative customers only: refer to the step “Latest legislation data update (Hrglobal installation)” from the readme of the patch “Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2.3 Patch 17020683.”
o Oracle E-Business Suite Extensions for Oracle Endeca customers: Refer to Installing Oracle E-Business Suite Extensions for Oracle Endeca, Release 12.2 V4Document 1574273.1 for the complete installation and configuration steps.

5. Perform NLS-related Step (conditional)
You may have languages other than American English installed on your Release 12.2.0 system. If so, you must apply the Release 12.2.3 NLS software patch for each of the existing languages in the system. After applying the Release 12.2.3 NLS software patch, apply the Release 12.2.3 Online Help patch for the language, if available. Refer to the Release 12.2 Translation Scope and Availability Page for scope of Online Help languages.
Note: If you plan to install new languages after you apply Release 12.2.3 Patch 17020683, refer to Document 1314621.1, Oracle E-Business Suite NLS Release Notes.
